Press Release
IGN Joins Trymedia Distribution Network to offer Gamers
Immersive Trial Experience
November 5, 2003. San Francisco, CA
48 Hour Exclusive New Game Download Kicks Off Distribution Deal
IGN
Entertainment and
Trymedia Systems today announced an arrangement
that will bring full version PC game trials from Trymedia
Systems’ catalogue
to the IGN Network. Games distributed through Trymedia give gamers a free trial period
based on assets from the entire game, unlike a traditional demo which is a piece of a game.
The result is a more in-depth gaming experience. Today IGN posted the company’s first
full version game trial from Trymedia – a brand new, highly acclaimed game exclusively
for download at IGN Downloads during the first 48 hours of availability.
“IGN is excited to partner with Trymedia to provide our users with complete versions
of PC games available for download directly from IGN
Downloads ” said
Mark Jung, CEO, IGN Entertainment. “With Trymedia’s technology IGN offers a
unique purchase opportunity to our 10.6 million unique monthly visitors, allowing them
to try the game before they buy.”
As a new member of Trymedia’s game Distribution Network, IGN will expand it’s
full version trial offerings from the Trymedia catalogue in the coming weeks with titles
like The Temple of Elemental Evil, Sinbad: Legend of the Seven Seas, Alien
X, Resident
Evil 3: Nemesis, Street Fighter Alpha 2, Vietnam War Ho Chi Minh Trail and many new games
from leading publishers and independent developers. IGN will continue to offer its core
gamer audience traditional demos in addition to the full version trials from Trymedia.
IGN can now provide full version game trials to its core gamer audience and offer an experience
that gives a more accurate and complete feel for games in a try-before-you-buy format.
Upon completion of a free trial period, users will have the option to own the game by completing
a simple 3-click online process. Games enabled with Trymedia’s digital delivery technology
may be shared among friends (via CD/DVD, email, IM, etc), at which time they will revert
to free trial mode.
